 A few Reminders

Rooted in the industrial tradition born in Pont-à-Mousson in the middle of the 19th century, SAINT-GOBAIN CANALISATION combines an international group of industrial and commercial units including SAINT-GOBAIN PAM in France - in the Pipeline Activity of the SAINT-GOBAIN Group.

Founded in 1856, active for more than a century in Europe and from 1937 in South America, SAINT-GOBAIN CANALISATION extended its international presence to Asia in 1997, then to South Africa in 1998.

 Key dates
1854  The Company's industrial adventure starts in Lorraine with the discovery of the iron ore deposit at Marbache, in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle.

1856 The first industrial company operating a plant located in the commune of Pont-à-Mousson is founded.

1866 The first cast iron pipe leaves the production lines of the Pont-à-Mousson plant.
In an innovative move, the company focuses its development on the emergence of an emblematic product: the cast iron pipe dedicated to water supply.

Success in overseas markets shapes the company's strategic growth.
From the end of the 19th century, the Pont-à-Mousson site equipped numerous towns with water networks, both in Europe and throughout the world.

1886 With the creation of the Société Anonyme des Hauts-Fourneaux et Fonderies de Pont-à-Mousson, the company forges its true identity, asserting its core business: foundry.
Two major technical innovations establish the company's performance in this field.

1928 The centrifugal casting process, faster and more regular, takes over from vertical casting in the manufacture of pipelines, contributing to the ease of mass production.

1948 The use of ductile cast iron, offering a very high yield strength together with high tensile strength and impact strength, becomes more widespread.

1960

Modernisation of the installations, processes and products continues:

Automation of the foundry lines improves working conditions and
   simplifies the production steps,

Generalisation of the zinc coating increases product durability,
Use of elastomer joints, leakproof and flexible, represents a determining safety factor for the pipeline systems.

1970 The production methods undergo a series of decisive improvements:

All pipelines produced at the Pont-à-Mousson plant are made from ductile cast iron,

The manufacture of municipal castings represents the ideal solution to satisfy the requirements of the sewerage system operators,

Pont-à-Mousson S.A., a group of several industrial companies in France, Germany and Brazil, merges with SAINT-GOBAIN in 1970.

The SAINT-GOBAIN Group now has a PIPELINE Division and launches its international development.

1980 International deployment of the PIPELINE Division intensifies, especially in Spain and Great Britain.
The strategic priority of the PIPELINE Division is to refocus activity on its original trade: complete, reliable solutions for the water cycle.
The range of production tools expands with the implementation of new processes:
The V-Process : an advanced vacuum casting technique,
Cataphoresis: electrolytic processing which increases the resistance to ageing,
Lost-Foam: a casting technique in which the polystyrene mould is replaced by the cast part.
Innovative coatings (polyethylene, polyurethane, epoxy powder coating) are applied to the complete pipeline systems, depending on the corrosive nature of the environments,

New product lines are launched:

The Integral range: a reference pipeline system for the sewerage industry,

The Euro 20 range: valves intended for the water cycle markets.

1990 Development of the first locked connections.

2000 The change of corporate name of all companies in the PIPELINE Activity strengthens the international cohesion of the SAINT-GOBAIN Group.
The determination to federate these companies around a common identity gives SAINT-GOBAIN CANALISATION greater worldwide status:
Pont-à-Mousson S.A. therefore becomes SAINT-GOBAIN PAM,
Numerous product innovations accompany the launch of the ranges:

Natural: pipeline system offering exceptional corrosion resistance for potable water supply,

Pluvial: runoff water evacuation pipeline system for sewerage,

Pamrex and Aksess: manhole covers for municipal castings,

EPAMS system: Syphonic rainwater drainage system for the building industry.

2001 PAM: A common global brand.

Reflecting the federation under a common banner of the companies in the SAINT-GOBAIN Group PIPELINE Activity, PAM becomes the unique trade name of SAINT-GOBAIN CANALISATION internationally.

Faithful to its industrial history combining tradition and modernity, the PAM brand is now stamped on all our pipeline products throughout the world, further increasing their reputation.

Easily identifiable, PAM meets the requirements of market globalisation whilst improving the coherence of the SAINT-GOBAIN CANALISATION product and service offered.

2004 Launch of the TAG 32 range - DN 150 to 300.
TAG 32 is a new generation range in ductile iron, designed to fit to the sewerage gravity requirements. This new range benefits of the new coatings in accordance withe the natural environment.

2005 Expansion of the NATURAL range from DN 350 to DN 600.
NATURAL : ductile iron pipe systèms with patented external anticorrosion coating for drinking water conveyance. A complete range of fittings allows every type of layouts and posing contexts for the DN 60 to 600.

Launch of the IRRIGAL range from DN 100 to DN 1000.
IRRIGAL is the green pipe in ductile iron for irrigation pipelines (green for DN 100 to 600 and black for DN 700 to 1000). A complete system which improves the agricultural yield, by improving the transport efficiency and by offering the best performance of its field.

2006 A new range and system for the municipal casting :
Marketing of the "LINEA SLOT" for the municipal casting.
A complete system of slotted gullies adapted to your drainage projects for pluvial waters,

   Introduction of the "IVOIRE" system.

IVOIRE is an identifying microship system RFID (radio frequency) to make the communication between the municipal casting products possible.

Presentation of large range of lockings for pipes and fittings.
Always adapting to the market needs, the Activity Canalisation of Saint-Gobain offers a large panel of lockings answering to any technical constraint.

2007 Renewal of the "EURO 20".
EURO 20, still more performant. The new gate keeps all the previous advantages and presents higher performances : diminution of the operating torque, a new conception of its leaktigthness makes it stable through time.
Accessoiries range simplified and completed.
