Sustainable development
Our complete commitment to sustainability and society
Saint-Gobain PAM has a policy of sustainable development that covers the entire lifecycle of our various pipe, fitting, joint, accessory and municpal casting products. This ‘green’ investment is made possible thanks to the principal raw material used ductile cast iron obtained by a special Magnesium treatment wich gives it exceptional mechanical strength and bending properties. This material material can be infinitely recycled, is long lasting, and fully inert.
Saint-Gobain PAM reduces the energy and natural resource requirements of water transport systems as well as their CO2 emissions thanks to:
- Pipelines with an optimised thickness that last longer; and
- The development of ergonomic installation techniques.
At every step, from the design of products to their transport and use, we are fully focused on responsible and sustainable patterns of consumption and production.
In fact, within a 15-year period, we have reduced our energy consumption by an average of 30% to produce a pipe of the same diameter, while our move to acrylic paint in 2012 helped reduce VOC emissions by 24% in our plants. Moreover, our patented Zinalium external coating triples the lifetime of pipelines in most scenarios, thus limiting pipeline network renewal.
