Grade A
Grade A surface boxes are engineered for the most demanding environments. You’ll find them installed in carriageways that experience continuous heavy traffic, where durability and safety are critical. Each box is manufactured from ductile iron, offering exceptional strength and resistance to wear. They comply with British Standards BS 5834 Part 2 and BS 750, and carry the BSI Kitemark, ensuring quality and reliability. The wedge seating system provides a secure, non-rock fit, reducing movement under load. Additional features include prising slots for easy access, bonding ribs for stable installation, and optional safety chains for extra security. These boxes are designed to perform under loads between 30 to 35 tonnes, giving you confidence in long-term service life.
Grade B surface boxes are designed for areas where vehicles have occasional access, such as pavements, verges, and light-duty zones. You’ll benefit from a robust construction that meets the requirements of BS 5834 for surface boxes, ensuring compliance and reliability. These boxes are typically manufactured from ductile iron and feature a solid top design for added strength. Their hinged cover and frame make access quick and convenient, while the compact dimensions allow easy installation in restricted spaces. Ideal for medium-duty applications between 12.5 and 15 tonnes, Grade B boxes provide a cost-effective solution without compromising on durability or safety.
