SAINT-GOBAIN PAM signs a partnership with the hydroelectric company RACINE
Committed to reducing its CO2 emissions by 80% by 2028 through the progressive electrification of its furnaces, Saint-Gobain PAM is taking another step in its low-carbon trajectory by developing renewable electricity supplies. The PAM teams have just concluded a 10-year strategic partnership with Racine, an independent hydroelectric producer, to power the PAM sites in Maidières (Technocentre), Foug, and Toul.
This electricity comes from several hydroelectric power plants located in Lorraine, including one directly in Pont-à-Mousson. Thanks to this local, sustainable, and reliable energy—hydropower being the least intermittent renewable energy source—PAM reduces its environmental footprint while supporting a production model that respects biodiversity and local communities.
This 10-year contract is a long-term commitment and confirms Saint-Gobain PAM's dedication to accelerating the energy transition of its industrial sites.
The supplier, Racine, a subsidiary of the family-owned Barthe ENR group, operates hydroelectric facilities throughout France. Their model, based on energy produced and consumed directly without intermediaries, guarantees a relationship of trust and close collaboration, in line with Saint-Gobain PAM's values and environmental ambitions.
With this partnership, we are moving from ambition to the very concrete implementation of our low-carbon strategy. Securing renewable electricity, produced locally in Lorraine, is essential to support the industrial transformation underway at our sites. This approach is fully aligned with our 2028 roadmap, which aims to sustainably reduce the carbon footprint of our production while preserving our competitiveness and our local roots.
