Who are we?
For more than 165 years, Saint-Gobain PAM UK has been committed to one purpose: delivering water safely and reliably to everyone who needs it. Since 1856, this mission has shaped who we are and the solutions we create.
Ductile iron is a truly sustainable material—engineered to last at least a century and fully recyclable at the end of its life. Our systems are built to perform in every type of terrain, ensuring secure, dependable management of one of the world’s most precious resources.
Today, Saint-Gobain PAM UK is the leading supplier of ductile iron products to the UK’s utilities, telecoms, highways, civil engineering, construction and housing sectors. Our portfolio includes:
- Ductile iron soil, drain and rainwater systems
- Ductile iron water and sewer pipes, fittings, valves, couplings and adaptors
- Ductile iron access covers, gratings, kerb drainage and surface boxes
We are also taking decisive steps to meet the challenge of decarbonisation.
Our goal is clear: by 2028, to provide complete ductile iron solutions that last 100 years, carry a significantly reduced carbon footprint and remain 100% recyclable.
We offer a comprehensive range of access covers that are designed and engineered to reduce whole life costs, improve health and safety, reduce ironwork thefts and make installations quicker, easier and right the first time.
We do this by including standard features that help improve durability, operator safety, asset security and overall performance. Features such as our spring bar opening that allows one person lifting and our load transfer system corners that disperse the force of heavy loads, providing enhanced access cover rigidity and strength. We've also designed and engineered the Install Plus frame levelling system which ensures a right first time installation.
With a focus on continuous improvement, we combine our technical expertise, process control, and innovative designs to offer high performing solutions that not only meet but exceed standards and our customers' needs.
When you choose gully gratings from PAM UK, you’re investing in high-performance drainage solutions designed for today’s highways and urban spaces. These gratings are built to handle heavy traffic and harsh weather, giving you durability, safety, and efficiency in one package.
With features like non-rock stability, captive hinged designs, and optimised waterway areas, you’ll benefit from rapid surface water clearance and reduced maintenance costs. Fully compliant with BS EN 124 and CD 534 standards, PAM UK gully gratings are perfect for carriageways, cycle paths, and active travel routes—helping you achieve long-term reliability and enhanced operator safety.
A surface box is a non‑rock, traffic‑rated frame and cover designed to provide safe, reliable access to underground utility assets such as valves, hydrants, regulators, and chambers. It sits at carriageway or footway level, allowing inspection and operation of below‑ground services without disturbing the surrounding surface. Surface boxes are primarily used by water, gas, and telecom utilities and are specifically covered by the BS 5834‑2 British Standard, which defines their design, performance, and application requirements for UK utility installations.
As traffic speed and frequency increases, there’s a greater need for reduced roadworks (and ironwork reinstatements) to allow our national and local road networks to run smoothly. This can only be achieved if ironwork installation practices, materials, solutions, and the specification that govern them evolve and adapt.
